New Modern Famous Design Victorian Home DecoratingElegant Design Country Victorian style Decoration

The Country Victorian style hearkens back to the decor of the Victorians' cottages and vacation homes out of the city. The style is characterized by an interesting variety of pastel colors such as mauve, pinks, pale greens, peaches and blues in floral or fruit patterned fabrics. Materials such as wood, brass and iron are key elements in a Country Victorian room. Use a dark oak chest, an old chest with hand grained wood finishes, or plain wall bookcases to display family heirlooms. Painted wicker, cottage flowers and herbs, lightly covered windows draped with gauzy fabrics and laces add to the Country Victorian look. Place handmade rugs on the floors, and drape blankets or embroidered rugs over armchairs. Accessorize with dried flower arrangements.

The Traditional Victorian style is characterized by rich brocades and velvets, both in furniture, walls and window dressings. Mauves, burgundies, rich blues and greens, along with lace and fringe compliment Victorian furnishings. Stained glass, pottery tiles, and parquet and marble flooring were also key features of Victorian style. Porcelain dolls, wicker, old high button shoes, hats and hat boxes, buttons and dried flowers are wonderful accent pieces to a Victorian room. The Victorian era was the era of abundance and one in which industrial advancement made mass production possible for the first time in history. This trend to the mass circulation of affordable things, allowing middle class families to afford the elements of the prevalent interior decorating style. The primary design principle in traditional Victorian style is to display many decorative items. For some, the effect may appear crowded or even cluttered, but a pleasing grouping of similar items (whether china teacups, picture frames or decorative pill boxes) is a must-have for a Victorian room. Consider the following suggestions to achieve the Traditional Victorian look. Metal hardware is a must. Victorians always admired items from the Renaissance and reproduced all types of hardware. Use antiqued doorknobs, drawer pulls, etc. to add a few simple Victorian touches to any room. Most every Victorian room — whether an upstairs bedroom or formal parlor — was equipped with a fireplace. Fireplaces were plain and polished with carved brackets. Use simple motifs to decorate the corners of your mantel. White marble fireplaces are ideal, but with simple paint techniques, even wooden fireplaces can give an illusion of marble. Decorative moldings and ornamental plasterwork were popular in Victorian homes. As moldings can be expensive, the similar effect can be achieved with the use of decorative wooden cornices placed at the end of arches. Stained glass is an integral part of the Victorian style. To avoid the high cost of having custom-made stained glass windows or doors, stain them yourself with permanent stain glass colors. If you want more flexibility, make designs on a separate piece of glass and just attach the finished piece to your window or door. The preferred color scheme of a Victorian house is dark. Rich colors should be used for all your most frequented rooms. To make sure you have adequate illumination, keep only one or two walls in dark colors and paint rest of the room in lighter shades. All woodwork, like the walls, were traditionally grained in dark colors. This effect is very easy to achieve yourself: Just paint woodwork with dark polish or stain in darker shades. Since machine-made wallpapers became popular during the Victorian era, they were used in abundance. Fruit, floral-designed wallpapers and tapestry papers can be used to achieve this effect. Or consider stenciling a Victorian design on your walls. Victorian furniture should be heavily upholstered. Seasonal variations can be achieved by slipcovering furniture. Use fabric everywhere, for upholstery, curtains, valances and other window treatments. You can also use fabric as a wall covering in the place of wallpaper, by using starch to paste the fabric to the wall.

Christopher Dresser said, "Good design should have interest at many levels!" For example, a plain painted wall looks the same from two feet away as it does from ten. A subtly designed wallpaper or a faux finish keeps the space much more interesting. It is my goal to achieve a beautiful "blended" space. Upon entering a room you should first enjoy the overall appearance of the space. To maintain interest and create a rich effect, every room must have abundant detail. Additionally, the room should be practical, with good traffic flow. Sitting rooms should be made up of intimate conversation areas. The room as a whole should have balance.

Color selection is almost always the starting point for every decorating style. Your colors will make the most immediate impression. Victorian decorating makes use of many pallets. Color choice is probably more outspoken than in any other style concept. Avoid falling into trap of finding a color to go with what you’ve got. Just because the possibilities are many, don’t think carefull consideration to individual color choices you will use at the outset has little impact upon the accomplishment of success in the over-all project. You will want to chose your colors with a clear idea of some of the other elements you plan to draw into the project. Deep, rich color distinguishes the importance of a room. The foyer, parlor and dinning room being most important because they are most seen by visitors and guests. Just which deep colors to use depend upon other additions. Lots of dark mahogany trim and furnishings show best with deep greens. Blue works well with silver and pewter adornments. Lightening up on the tones might be needed where natural light is low or where intricate oriental rugs and tapestries are planned for hallways.

Two historical factors came together to influence the interior decorating style of Victorian England. One was the enormous global reach of the British Empire. By the late 19th century, England had colonized India, Australia, New Zealand and much of Africa. These exotic influences fueled an interest in oriental rugs, sensuous fabrics, brass accessories and even tropical houseplants. Closer to home, the Industrial Revolution brought mass-produced versions of expensive goods within reach of middle-class households. Chemical dyes replaced rare natural pigments for fabrics and paint, making bright, rich colors commonplace in Victorian decorating. More than a century later, the opulent elegance of Victorian decorating is still popular.

Designing a home and decorating it the way you want is a lot more than merely putting a few objects together that serve the purpose. It is often a wise thing to have a running theme across your home as it will give the right idea on how to accessorize and make shopping a lot easier. If themes are what you are going how about the instant classic – the Victorian style of decorating interiors. It brings a touch of royalty, a sense of class and adds timeless charm. Going Victorian though is a lot harder than picking contemporary styles and design as you are trying to recreate the past. But here are a few simple tips that will you with that task.

New Modern Famous Design Victorian Home DecoratingLuxury Design Victorian Style Home Decorating Ideas
The Victorians were people who were known to pay too much importance to sophistication and elegance. The Victorian Era was a time when England was ruled by Queen Victoria. They were fashion conscious not only in their appearance, but also in the way they decorated their homes. A Victorian home was a reflection of the status and social class of the owner. They liked their houses to be decorated in a very rich manner, mirroring the style of the earlier aristocratic community. Typically, a Victorian house would be adorned with exquisite furniture and accessories, making the whole house look palatial. Even in this era of modernization, there are many people who prefer to design their houses in the Victorian style. To start with the interiors, the most important thing to decide is the colors for the walls. Victorian walls were never painted in the modern light shades, instead they were usually coated with dark and vibrant colors like sapphire, ruby, emerald green, etc. You can also use different colors on different walls to add to the style. If you want to have light colors, include them in the kitchen and hallway. Avoid light shades in the main rooms. Another thing that was fashionable in the Victorian period was wallpaper. You can go in for wallpapers with different patterns like flowers, butterflies, birds, leaves, etc. If you have a big and spacious house, you can go for bigger patterns. However, opt for the small patterns if you are in an apartment or smaller house, as bigger patterns in small houses would make the house look less spacious. You can also use different patterns on the border, something that was also very common during that period. The flooring of a Victorian home was usually made of wood and was covered with rich looking carpets having flowery designs to match the look of the walls. For kitchen flooring you can use marble, tiles, bricks or even hard wood. You can either leave it bare or put washable rugs on top of the flooring. To get the authentic Victorian look, it is important that you buy furniture that were similar to that period. The furniture of those times were usually made of teak, oak, mahogany, rosewood, walnut, etc. Beautifully carved tables, chairs, beds, etc., can definitely accentuate the whole Victorian look. You can also go for wicker furniture that would give that perfect rustic look to your home. Accessories are very important while decorating a home, as they complete the look of the house. Curtains and fabrics for sofas and chairs should be bought while keeping in mind the colors and patterns of the walls of the room. While selecting curtains, one can go for heavily embroidered fabric, velvet or even brocade to add to the richness of the room. While choosing table clothes, bed sheets, pillow covers, etc., use linen made of laces, embroidery and ribbons. It was common to see antique porcelain dolls and figurines, lace doilies, decorative china and plates in a typical Victorian household. One can also make use of decorative lighting like small table lamps, magnificent chandeliers or candelabras to give that finishing effect of a Victorian home. Decorating your home in the Victorian style can be very expensive. However, you can get hold of a lot of authentic Victorian stuff at thrift stores and even in flea markets at cheap rates. Usually, a typical Victorian house is crammed with furniture. However, in today's times it would be difficult to manage such a house. It would be better if you take some interior decorating ideas from the Victorian period and design your house as per your own requirements and tastes.

It always help if you know before hand what style you would like for your house. It could be contemporary/modern, country style, French country style or the classic Victorian types. This will help to search for furnitures and drapes according to the style. In modern types, minimalist is the key word. In country style, there would be more elements of cowboy hats, wooden tables etc. French windows and frilly pillow covers and Victorian grandeur tables, cupboards, mantle piece and long dining tables would be more suitable for French country and Victorian style.

The best way to start a beach house decorating project is to take cues from colors, textures and resources found outside. After making big decorating decisions about floors, walls, furniture and color, it is time to have fun with little details. In a beach house, there is only one place to go for perfect inspiration – outside. And the result is a truly modern, striking beach house, with stunning views, light, bright spaces and crafted details. The beach decorating style is both casual and charming. It brings a bit of nature and fun into any home and the best part is that you can give your home a great beach theme without having to spend a lot of money. When considering a new decorating theme for any room, there are 3 things you want to think about - the colors, the furniture and the accessories. Here are some tips on how to pull together a beach theme in your home using these 3 elements. Color Any good beach decorating theme should tie in the colors of the beach. Sky and ocean blues, sandy tans and sunshine yellows look great. However, a white color scheme accented with blue and yellow pillows and accessories can look wonderful too. One fun idea is to paint the ceiling a yellow, the walls a light blue and use tan colored rugs - sisal rugs are great for this theme.

If you are on a budget, then paint is the perfect solution. It is cheap plus it makes a huge impact on any room. In fact, paint is one of the least expensive decorating options but makes the biggest difference. Furniture You want the furniture for your beach theme to be casual. Soft fluffy couches with slip covers are ideal and don't forget to include lots of pillows. You might also consider wicker but make sure it is sturdy enough for household furniture. If you are decorating a kitchen, whitewashed wooden kitchen tables and chairs go great with this theme.

Every design must be bold and stand out, but not to the point at which it overwhelms the viewer. Go for “funky” looks that are strange but unique at the same time. Furniture in a retro style room tries to appear as outstanding as possible. When it comes to sofas, look for elongated styles and make sure there are lots of colorful pillows. Also, as a quick side note, don’t go for big design when decorating with retro themes as it may interfere with the effectiveness of the vibrant, bold colors. Instead of picture designs, focus on puzzle-piece looks and things of that nature. The best colors to use are avocado green and mustard yellow. Combine these with some simple tie-dye fabric and presto you’re set! If you’re not a fan of tie-dye, try checkered patterns. When it comes to textures, the more the merrier. Go for soft, rough, and fluffed designs. Anything is good. Scoop stools, skate tables, fuzzy throw rugs, and lava lamps are all part of the wide assortment of décor you’re going to want your retro themed area to have. Foreign sculptures are also great. Wood and checker tile flooring are also predominantly the best choices. Look for clean, swift looks for flooring as everything else will be bright and fantastically insane. Just remember that with retro, anything goes! Multiple pieces always match and will help amplify your design to its fullest.

We chatted with interior designer Mark Langos, of MarkLangos.com, about the beautiful home he designed that we featured in our May issue. Here, he continues his thoughts about interior design and what makes for a great living space. What's the first thing you thought about when you began this project? There are several factors I take into consideration, but it all comes down to the needs of the client. For this house, my clients have very hectic lives and wanted a calming space to relax and unwind. In the large living room, they often entertain both on an intimate and large scale. Dividing the room into distinct spaces that can function independently or as one was key.My clients love to play games (cards, board games) so it was imperative that I include a games table in their home. They can play a game at the table in the center of the space and enjoy the larger area surrounding them, relax with a great book or cocktails by the fire, or entertain a bigger group using all portions of the room (even opening up the doors to include the outdoors). What's the best way to stay on budget? Paint is really the most cost effective way to transform a space. Consider the color in the space with morning, afternoon and evening light, as each will change the color's intensity and shade. It is a good idea to paint a 12" x 12" swatch on the wall to see. Use a minimum of 2 to 3 coats of paint to properly cover and convey the correct color of the swatch. Another trick is to tape sheets of white paper around the perimeter of the swatch this way you are not looking at color against the existing wall color. For those who are able to spend a little more money, I am using more and more wallpaper in my work. It is a great alternative to paint; it adds texture, depth and can even change the scale of a room. What are the best "investment" items? Invest in quality upholstered pieces. They are something that will be with you for a long time. I also believe that large pieces in a room should remain neutral. It is much easier to change out the pillows and throws than to reupholster your sofa. A good piece of furniture can easily have many lives by updating accents and accessories or simple reupholstery. I think that successful design (and real life) is a mixture of elements within a space. Most rooms I design contain a mixture of elements from custom designed pieces to great retail finds ranging in price high to low. It is inevitable that the less-expensive accessory gets commented on because it is in a well edited, cohesive environment and sitting on a beautiful table.
Modern Style Design Home DecorLuxury Design French Style Home Decor

When you’re choosing an interior designer whose style is French style home décor, your first decision is how authentic your want the décor to be. Some want every detail picture-perfect; while others want a hint of French in the fabrics, furniture or accessories. Whether your idea of French style is formal or country, part of the fun is knowing where to shop and how to get the most style for your dollar. If you’re interested in antiques, then your best buy will be at auction; if style is more important than provenance, you’ll have a world of choices. My only suggestion: instead of being slavish, adapt French style to your style. Designer Previews will show you the work of many of the finest designers of French style home décor and help you compare their styles in relation to your needs.

Ethnic decor pieces can be found in all kinds of unexpected places. You’ll find them in specialty furnishing stores and on the web, but often some of the best treasures are from garage sales and thrift stores. Look for unique textures that catch the eye - woven, carved, or molded knick knacks will make a big statement, as will fabric that is embroidered, dyed, or sewn by hand. Some ethnic and ethnic-looking items are readily available at local shops across the United States, such as Mexican pottery, interesting baskets, or painted masks. Other items are more difficult to find. If you are traveling internationally, keep an eye out for beautiful items that might not be traditionally associated with decorating - a silk kimono from an Asian country, a woven hat from Central America, or wooden clogs from Europe - these can all be mounted on the wall or displayed on a shelf as a wonderful conversation piece about your adventure.

We all love beautiful things. So, our homes must be the one of them, and therefore, the home décor is very important. Most of us enjoy making our homes more than a mere structure made up of four walls and a roof. Home decor styles range from a number of themes, designs, and materials. While planning your home decor project, you can either opt for the theme being implemented throughout the house or use one specific theme for a specific room. For example, a house was once designed in such a way that each room was decorated with the styles of the different countries the home owner had visited. All rooms included authentic art and furniture from each visited country.

Three years ago, the owners of the building at 100 E. Jefferson St. granted a request from one of the tenants to expand. Easy Street, which previously occupied some of the building, moved a short distance south of the main downtown area to allow for its neighbor to grow its offices. The economy turned sour and the expansion never happened. The space was available again and the store returned, said co-owner Dana Reuter. “We like being downtown,” she said. “This building is better for us.” The extended space includes a solid steel cabinet, an old-style bartending set, a custom-made dollhouse and an entire wall covered with art from co-owner Maria Greene. “This is big, heavy,” Reuter said as she banged her knuckles against the steel cabinet. “It’ll last a lifetime.” She walked one slow lap around the store and randomly pointed to furniture, pottery, crystals, knickknacks and art pieces. There was a serving tray from the Netherlands, a statue from India, a brass and copper table from England, a crystal bird from France and a painting from Russia. Reuter will scrounge up her nose any time someone mentions the Pottery Barn or IKEA. “We get one-of-a-kind things from all over the world,” Reuter said. “We usually don’t deal with new stuff. That way, we make sure it’s one of a kind … Everybody has stuff made in China. We want (unique) stuff here.” Most of the items at the store are either on consignment or are bought at estate sales. Not all the pieces are still available for purchase. Easy Street has a layaway system. It also gives customers time to set pickup and delivery schedules. The store itself offers delivery for those who live a short distance away, Reuter said. The 3-foot high dollhouse had a sign on it that read, “Sorry, but I am sold and on my way to a loving home.” “We have a lot more coming in,” said Reuter of her business. “We have a huge area.” She wandered outside to her vehicle and pulled out a cane that was made in 1944. It was unusual because it had a fold-down seat. “You can see this just looks homemade,” Reuter said. “I love stuff like that, because you can’t find it anywhere else. I used to run a charity thrift store (in Land O’ Lakes), so I got to see a lot of strange stuff.” The Spring Hill Art League hosts a monthly wine reception at Easy Street. Wednesday’s gathering will be the first since the store moved to its current location. The event is open to the public and will run from 7 to 9 p.m. The store’s inventory is not only for those serious collectors or affluent shoppers. There is a $5 table at the front of the store and it is constantly being replenished. Reuter said there are at least 30 items sold a week from the table. “We get so many calls from people who say they want to get rid of stuff,” she said. “Some think they can get millions of dollars for something. Others don’t care. They just want to clean out their attics.” Either way, she gets a lot of enjoyment finding unique pieces of décor each and every week. She wants to make extra sure her customers like what they see and keep coming back. “Would you want to shop here?” she asked a couple of men outside her shop. “Wouldn’t you want to tell your friends about this place?

The absolute necessary first step in home furnishings decor is coming up with a plan. Your decorating is bound to have problems if you do not start with a plan. Pay attention to the color scheme as you plan, and consider what furniture pieces are vital. The home furnishings decor you current have should be considered if the color scheme is the only thing in the home that is going to change. No matter how well it will go with your home, do not rely on one paint color alone. Instead, pick several swatches and take them home. Buying sample paint jars as well will allow you to paint tiny portions of your wall. Leave the colors on the wall for a few days so you get the feel of how the color looks at different times of the day in different light. Practice reason when selecting your home furnishings decor. When picking out furniture, it is good to remember what type of function each room has and buy the furniture that matches that function. Family room furniture would not work well in your formal living room, for example. Before purchasing furniture you should have proper measurements and diagrams to show where all windows and doors are. Always choose your furniture after you have decided upon the wall art and carpeting. Even the best planners can have trouble trying to come up with a place to begin their project. You may have problems deciding on what home furnishings decor you want to include. Sometimes the look in a magazine will not look well with your home at all, and you can avoid mistakes by setting some goals in the beginning. As you set your goals, be sure to include a reasonable budget for your monetary situation. By doing this, you can better choose a decorating project that will not be beyond your budget. Internet resources should be included in your decorating because you can find great new ideas and tips for saving money. You should consider purchasing your furniture online in order to save money. For people who have particular needs or unique tastes, it is a great idea to use the internet to help you achieve those goals.

Our American society has not always been the most fashion forward, but we are quickly catching up to all of the trends (both clothing and design) now that the internet provides us immediate access to the rest of the world. Consumers are more conscious than ever of good design, and want to bring it into their homes, no matter what their budget. Furniture stores have started taking notice of this trend and are now offering complete room packages that have been created by their "designers". There is no mention of the level of education their designers have, and thought the rooms are very well put together, they are not what I would consider the same level of design quality you would get from a licensed interior designer.

This design looks famous modern because this design use concept luxury and modern architect home design ideas for home. i think this design is very modern beautiful You are finally there - you've made it! It's time for you to get the house of your dreams. That big binder filled with magazine clippings - a collage of colors, textures and designs - can finally be put into a cohesive custom home design just for you. Now, maybe you think you know exactly what you want and all you have to do is hire a contractor to take your vision and build it. For a project to this magnitude and import, hiring an architect to handle the design and to work with the contractor is a better move. Why? Because an architect brings certain things to the table that will ensure the house of your dreams becomes just that. What are these special qualifications and how do you know you're getting the right person for the job? Here are a few things to look for and questions to ask when shopping for an architect to breathe life into your custom home design: 1. Is he licensed in your state? Architects must obtain a license to work in any state. If your "architect" doesn't have one, he is really just a designer. The difference is not just the piece of paper, it is the skill and knowledge necessary to get that license. 2. Can you see examples of his work? Either on paper or in person, you always want to see your architect’s finished products. This is important not only to ensure he does quality work, but that you also like it. If a majority of his work is contemporary chic and you want traditional colonial, will he be able to handle it?
